There may exist a chainsaw chain designed for this specific purpose, but a normal chain performs poorly. Just look at the chain. Teeth here and there. It's unnecessarily wide (normally it has to make room for thick chainsaw blade). It's designed to cut and remove loose material running only one direction. It sucks.
If there's any way to carry a hand saw blade, even a short one you should think that first. You can roll them up inside a round flat container or attach them straight to the frame of the backpack.
