i think the shitty culture and mentality people are developing in this setting will hamstring it all and people will have to know a thing or two about outdoors things again, it could have been staved off if on a civilisational level some very serious thought had been given to the kind of culture people were being taught, but it's been left for too long at this point and capitalists have had more or less a monopoly on that for generations now.
people are too accustomed to extreme comfort and think that relatively small, necessary downgrades to that are like omg literally slavery and fascism. consumer capitalism collectively turns people into the most useless, neurotic, entitled cunts possible to maximise sales, yet it also needs skilled, innovative people with a very strong work ethic to keep it going and keep things selling, what's needed is basically the opposite of what's socially engineered, so innevitably i think it will trip itself up. if not through creating a culture which destroys it's own foundations, then simply through scarcity.
