>>1529812>Are so far up abbeys ass that you are unwilling to admit that he made a cunt statement now and then?I think anyone who has anything of worth to say will inevitably offend someone. If saying that makes Abbey a cunt then all it means is I like the cunt and that probably makes me a bigger cunt.
>Also abbey was an american, what he meant when he said gourmet was even lower quality food than we have today so your whole fucking argument falls apart.I think he was referring to the following:
>In the United States, a 1980s gourmet food movement evolved from a long-term division between elitist (or "gourmet") tastes and a populist aversion to fancy foods. This lines up chronologically with the date the quote was penned, 1986, and was most likely his comment on his experience or interaction with elements of that movement.
Still, he never said anything bad about gourmet food itself, just the people that think it is important. The key word here is "important", it implies a valuation of gourmet food that is more than just the occasional luxury or indulgence, but instead something worth actively pursuing.
But, the USA is the consumer capital of the world, so it is to be expected that criticizing anything hedonistic would cause such a reaction. I could rephrase that quote and substitute watching anime with gourmet cooking and it would get the same reaction.
You cunts just don't like the fact that someone will actively avoid you because of your values in life, and in this particular case the person is more /out/ than anyone on this entire board so you try to ad hominem him instead of reflecting on yourself.
