I guess the biggest difference between the Laguiole and Texas Toothpick is the handle, and both are quite old designs. The Laguiole has quite a thick and round handle but Texas Toothpick is much slimmer.
My Laguiole here is from Lee Valley Tools, they are nice for cutting apples, steak, and other light duty. I don't think I would do anything heavy with it, I'll leave that stuff to the CRKT.
