>>2306089Depends on the jungle. The biggest factor is whether it's old growth or new growth. Since there's hardly any old growth jungle left, odds are you're gonna be stuck in new growth which can be literally impenetrable, even with a machete. It's particularly bad in riparian forests and near water. I've been in situations where I thought I was gonna die. Also if it's the rainy season, muddy slopes can be your worst enemy. I've got a minimalist rappel system which I've used fairly frequently just to descend a hill.
But there's nothing stopping you from going to a tropical region and fucking around in the rainforest. I've done it in plenty of countries. The only two things that scare me are snakes and malaria, and if you avoid both you can have a lot of fun.

Nothing else seemed to strike such heart-stopping fear in the locals, so that's the only thing that made me nervous. Other snakes might be venomous but they don't actively chase down and bite anything warm.
