Alright /out/, /fit/izen here who wants to elevate my outdoors and hiking game with the gf to camping.
I haven't spent a night in a tent in over 20 years. My gf has only done fancy pants glamping in cabins/yurts/hostels.
Ideally I'd like to be at a level of backpack camping and hauling all my shit with me from site to site, doing 20+ mile days but until the gf and I get used to camping we are just gonna car camp for a few times.
Since we are both new to camping I don't wanna waste a ton a tent which may or may not get much use and figure we would be better off with a $65 Coleman Sundome Tent.
Is there any reason this is a bad move? I figure if we hate camping, I'm only out like $65 bucks as opposed to the $300+ other tents cost.
Also, camping for idiots guide in general help plz. Specifically SoCal info would be good. I honestly don't know anything about camping other than I can look up camp sites on the US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management site.
