From what I've seen suburban streets are no good because people know the vehicles in their quiet side streets well and will prob call cops. Instead go for streets in front of apartment buildings where people generally don't know their business l neighbors instead or the old Walmart parking lot.
People drive through dangerous 3rd world countries in South America living in their vans, just gotta keep your wits about you.
Also, it depends what your vehicle looks like. Does it LOOK like a camper? (Kombi, high top roof etc) or does it just look like pic related from the outside? Cops and people won't fuck with you if it looks like an anonymous white trades van, especially if you put a technical/electricians manual on the dash and some hi-vis vests on the seats. You won't be a target unless you make yourself one.
