On my first ever hike (2 day trip) I bought a giant knife (Not my picture but same knife) and wore it on the chest strap on my backpack the entire trip. I never even used it once and I cringe when I think about what the people I passed on the trail thought. Now I just bring my 10 dollar Mora knife and just use it to cut my sausage mostly.
