The 5/0 EWG hooks provably won’t see any use because the only soft plastics I use for bassin that need hooks so large are swimbait, and in that case I would rather use a 5/0 weighted swimbait hook with the corkscrew instead of an offset worm hook with an extra weight.
Football jigs heads- bought some of those at the winter clearance and never fuckin used them. The football shape doesn’t make the plastic bait stand up any better than just using a Texas rig and they’re too heavy to do any of the finesse stuff. If you want the effect with the bait just standing off the bottom, you will probably be better off with the shakey head jigs or a Texas rig with a bouyant plastic and <1/4oz bullet weight.
The weedless jigheads for swimbaits... meh. I would rather use pic related. The jigheads make the baits too nose heavy and they don’t have as natural of a presentation. Plus those goody weedless designs still love to pick up that stringy algae crap. My favorite combo is the Strike King KVD Swimmin Caffeine Shads with a 4/0 weighted swimbait hook. Check out Dick’s after the new year. They always seem to discontinue a ton of stuff around that time and sometimes you can get quality shakey heads and stuff for dirt cheap. Plus Dick’s will have real good sales on Gamakatsu or Trokar hooks sometimes and you can stock up on the sizes you use a lot.
