My shiitakes FINALLY started fruiting.
Got the block back in early December. After getting it, I soaked it overnight and put it under a loose plastic bag and got nothing. A few weeks later, I soaked it in cold water in the garage and then put it in a plastic tub indoors to keep the humidity up. Nothing. So I decided to let it dry out a bit and forgot about it for a month (still had some residual moisture inside but was very dry on the outside). On Monday I sprayed it with some water and stabbed it a few times, then submerged it in water in my cold garage again, but for around 36 hours. Took it back inside and just put a clear bag with some holes over it, and sprayed it with water a couple times a day. Yesterday, I noticed some weird cracking on the bottom and a few white spots around the block that I'm not sure were there before, so I took a pic. Today, there are a few pins all over the block and this is how it looks right now. Definitely going to let one or two mushrooms mature fully so I can save the spores and try making my own shiitake fruiting blocks.
