I live near the Med shores in Languedoc and the shrubland/pine landscape is highly flammable.
I don't recall any massive fire like in Portugal these last few years (although there was a pretty big one on the Spanish/French border last summer) but I always hear about numerous ones throughout the season
The garrigue burns well enough
Different type of climate and landscapes in the south-west but always expect the south and south-east to burn
