Walkaround zooms and all-in-one zooms are almost never as good as a decent prime. However, not only are zooms better now than they have ever been, high ISO performance is light years beyond where it was even five years ago, let alone fifteen years ago. Go to 800-6400 ISO and stop down the lens to f8. Even "enh" lenses will be good, even excellent, when stopped down.
