Senator went more than a mile into the mountains, and way in the back there were some small dams created from the intentional blasting of the side shafts. These dams were holding back hundreds if not thousands of gallons of water, as they were ~3 feet high and extended at least 40 yards in another direction, filled to the brim. We signed our names in the mud on a beam alongside names from the 1970s and got the hell out. Here is about a quarter mile in, in one of the drier spots.
