BFS is the most difficult and demanding conventional style there is. It is not forgiving at all. If you mess up, you’ve got a $30 birds nest to cut out and a $20 lure you aren’t getting back.There is no “Cheap” quantitative way into a highly skilled fishing style. You have to spend money much like experienced fly fishermen spend big money on their rods.
I own BFS rods ranging from $300 to $500; I’ve owned bfs rods cheaper than $300, they do not compare to the flagship rods these small Japanese shops make.
Fishing styles and what you end up fishing with is a mere reflection of your nature. Some people do not have a single drop of finesse in their bodies, others were born with it. And as you improve as an angler, so should your gear.
