Should the Feds keep vistas like the Grand Canyon, Teton, Escalante-Bear Ears, and Yosemite open, "wild" forever, retarding growth in those regions for eternity? Should we, American citizens, shackle those states to the idea of an eternally wild America?
Or should we, as our continent ages and matures, adopt a more European approach where conservation of the landscape, tourism and public right-of-way, and private ownership all intersect? Think of the Swiss Alps, the English Lakes District, or the Black Forest. Or Texas and their right of way to public beaches.
