>>2815471yeh i fly fish
>pic relatedadmittedly not my best fish handling here, but its a carp so it'll probably be fine. even if it dies there were dozens of turtles in the area that would be super happy to have a carp like this to munch on.
>>2815754honestly with how little line those hold i cant imagine taking the spool out and getting it set up on the spooler would be faster or more convenient than just doing it 'the hard way'
>>2815770fishing has been hard lately but i think things are about to actually kick off; leaves are budding and water is getting up to the 50s and 60s
>>2815847ive not looked in or even been to socal but the way i find spots in ohio is looking for parks, public land, and cover/structure on google maps. the ocean is a little more dynamic than rivers, but i have seen a spot on google sattelite, thought to myself 'that looks like a good spot', gone there, and then caught fish.
ive also done that where, upon looking on foot/in person there's a gate or otherwise 'no trespassing' or some such and what i thought was access turns out not to be.
another good option, and honestly probably your best bet, is go in to the local tackle shop with intent to buy things and probe for intel while you're there; access points, gear, lures, maybe they'll even have some burner spots on quick draw.
>>2815898honestly id very much enjoy a day of harassing hammer handle pike on light gear
