Alaskan Mals, like many old world dogs, are prone to being aloof and chasing small animals. This makes them hard to have off leash. They shouldn't live in a hot climate, if you happen to find one n a rescue or something that's fine but don't support a breeder in Tampa, FL or in Nevada or some shit. THey are very active dogs, just because they aren't AS active as Huskies doesn't mean they don't need a ton of exercise a day still. They have 'blow out' periods of shedding that you will have to deal with. You can not cut their hair because it's a double coat and it will never grow back right, and the new hair would be unable to provide protection from both heat and cold. They are smart but that doesn't necessarily mean easy to train.
This is just in general, your indivual experience may vary.
