Well, all the woods are free to roam, but you can‘t put up a camp without getting fined if you get caught. You also shouldn‘t make a fire in a place that isn‘t an official fire place. But everyone does it anyways. I‘ve never heard a story of someone getting in troubles for doing so.
You also technically aren‘t allowed to alter anything, like taking home stones or cutting down branches. But again, as long as you don‘t do it on a large scale, it‘s not an issue.
The issue here is mainly that we don‘t have a lot of huge forrests, so everywhere are paths and people who go for a walk with their dumb dogs (no offense, but most dogs are not trained well and therefore just a pain in the ass).
If you know where to go, you can find a lot of really scenic and secluded places. But even there the chances are rather big that other people might have had the same idea. It‘s a shame switzerland is so small and crowded.
