One night me and a friend were drunk, in the woods, trespassing along the railroad tracks, and we were exploring around the river under a railroad bridge and suddenly we heard rocks plunging into the water near us. Nobody in sight, not a peep.
We both assumed there was either some dumb kids (this was right near where the tracks pass through a town and over a road) or some lunatic.
In retrospect it was likely beavers. They get ornery when you dick around their dams, especially at night, and they slap their tails onto the water and disappear under the surface, only to pop up somewhere else and do it again. Who knows.
