This job has provided some valuable insight I did not see coming as I already enjoyed hiking often. What you find when you move from the suburbs to the woods, at least for me... is first it takes you a few months to psychologically adjust. After that, a lot of realizations start coming in. So much stupid shit people fight about, or post about on social media.. or worry about, it all looks even more radically insignificant from out here. People get way too cooped up in their habitat-based-tunnel vision. This is probably the last board to have to say this but yea, get out more if you are only a day-hiker. Spend a chunk of your life in the woods if it can be done comfortably, preferably not at a spooky prison camp like Anon was at.
I was wondering why I never feel like going out on the weekends here. I've explored a little bit though but yea, I already am out, by default. Turns out I only got that feeling because of wanting to get away from the noisy house and the noisy city.
