7/8 reel, a tfo tfr 8 weight rod, 20 pound backing, and a general purpose taper fly line. I personally run a 9 weight air cel line on an echo bad ass glass with a redington behemoth so i dont need to feel bad about dragging it over rocks and logs. Then honestly carp can be so diverse even just from one lake to the next. If a body of water has a lot of nymphs and leeches, imitate that. If it has more crawdads and baitfish, imitate those. Also, 9-12 foot 3x leaders are a good choice for carp. Good luck
