>>2604795I have a 24x24 FFU. It's made a huge difference in my agar work. I started in a SAB but that lasted only about as long as the BRF cakes. It's too hot where I live to work with the AC off. Still air is awful here! I constantly have fans running to circulate the air in my house.
I didn't have many tric issues before the outbreak. It would show up now and then. Mostly on my oyster or lions mane blocks after several flushes. That's when I'd usually toss them. I think the outbreak was caused by incorrectly pasteurized straw and a bucket that must have somehow gotten spores in it. First the pans started to break out. I lost one before full colonization. The other three made it into the tent but didn't fruit well. All were green on the very bottom when I dumped them. A month or so later all 6 tubs of the FP+ I had just spawned all broke out at the same time. Then fungus gnats showed up and started carrying it to other tubs. The rest, I harvested early and tossed before they too became infected. It was a one off catastrophe I think. I eliminated what I think was the vector, that bucket. So I'm not too concerned with another outbreak. I just haven't had the need to get back to growing yet.
I'm familiar with josex's poke method. I've used it several times to get clean cultures from heavily contaminated germination plates. I've also made a couple of LCs using a poke to transfer from my agar plates to the jars. It's a very useful technique.
