I did it for a few months, the most important thing is to be inconspicuous and you can park almost anywhere. Tips to follow.
-Avoid Walmarts and rest stops, people lurk around those spots. Thieves and worse.
-Keep you mess kit and other shit in a duffle etc. NOT strewn about.
-Brush your teeth etc before moving to your crash spot.
-scope a few spots during the day and park after dark.
-park uphill and you can sleep in your drivers seat, as it will be effectively flat fully reclined on a normal grade.
-Shower at a gyms, either paid or your school's (if available).
-Look into land developments, neighborhoods often have roads that just sort of end. Often people don't walk out there after dusk.
I found d a few spots I would just roll into after dark. Open and close my door for the illusion that I was seeing someone nearby, and slept in my driver's seat. I'd wake up for work early, eat breakfast, go to work, shower at school, make lunch, go to class, make dinner at a park and repeat. Weekends I'd camp. I had most of my possessions in a storage unit and loaded it for easy access to fresh cloths etc.
This was all in a basic '90s japo sedan, Fits are a little more memorable but I bet you'll be fine.
