When I'm trying to accomplish something, like a shittone of mountains. OR if I'm alone. Or just basic camping stuff. Generally I pack whole foods and pre-make meals, with some instant stuff added in for on trail.
Examples:
>Pb & J tortilla wraps
>Instant rice and tuna packet
>Homemade trail mix
>Maybe some beef jerky
>What ever the fuck I find lying around the house that is shelf stable.
But if I'm camping with someone new, or doing a ceremonious hike like newyears on a mountain top, I like to pack the freeze dried meals. NOT gonna lie, they are really good for what they are. Suck my nuts if you wouldn't prefer southwest eggs and blueberry crumble with coffee compared to a burnt potatoe and some canned meat.
