If you were familiar with his videos you would know that a fair portion of his reviews talk very negatively about the weapons. He also does comparison reviews and reviews of smaller companies. The comparison reviews rarely have a winner. Take for example his comparison of the Remington 870 vs the Mossberg 590 where neither really comes out on top and some advantages of each are shown. If he were getting paid then I imagine one would be shown as better. He also has demonstrated a preference for stripped down rifles as he prattles on about "the ounces". If he were being paid to endorse then I think he would be more likely to encourage accessories. He loves the hipoint pistol, lol. He also bashes some of the offerings from a variety of companies who he does reviews for, such as the benchmade knife mentioned in an earlier post. His preference is for cheaper and lighter items as a whole. Now I couldn't say that he doesn't get some kind of kick back from Cold Steel whose dick he is constantly sucking, or sig sauer for that matter but you've got to keep in mind that asking someone to prove a negative is a little ridiculous. However, the evidence for the majority of reviews he does all point to not paid to do it.
You second point about his philosophies is debatable. He may over emphasize weight, he may have gear choices you disagree with etc.. that's all stuff that gets argued about on /out/ all the time. At least he gives reasons for conclusions. The political ideas he posts are for the most part Libertarian in nature. Thousands of people argue for and against that all day everyday. I have not and do not care to make any judgements on his correctness or "legitimacy" regarding though.
