>>2483778It's because they have thin, flexible soles and a wide, non-restrictive toebox which makes walking feel closer to being "barefoot". They are kind of like spacier converse i'm guessing? I personally haven't tried them so i can't attest to the durability of the soles but the idea does seem appealing because i have slightly bent inwards fucked up toes from years of wearing narrow shoes and boots and i'd like to fix them somehow. I've been mainly using sandals for the past couple of years and i work out barefoot and i've seen some progress and my ankles have gotten a bit stronger so i think there's merit to the idea. I'm a huge weeb so i'll just get Jikatabi honestly since they offer similar benefits and have been used by more people for longer than these modern "barefoot" shoes have. At least, I don't really know enough about these brands to confidently purchase something from them except maybe Vibram.
