>all these people dissing the midwest
I may have a bias since I've lived there most of my life but I'm glad I got to live in the plains. Nothing but farm, prairie, plains as far as the eye can see. What's even better is getting to appreciate what little scenery actually does deviate from norm. A hill here. A lone tree there. A small creek, pond, or river. All these things are basically a treasure to be found when you travel through. Of course the best thing about the scenery are the plains themselves. Getting to watch an ocean of grassland before your eyes is a sight to enjoy. A quick flick of the wind and the yellow sea bares a wave that seems to stretch to the horizon. And not only is there an ocean during the day, but at night it fills the entire sky with stars and other great bodies in numbers comparable to jellyfish floating along a vast expanse easily viewed . And the tune of the wild is either nary a sound or a soft hum the crickets and wind, playing a soothing lullaby that puts a traveler at ease.
You may think I'm crazy for liking a whole lot of nothing, but I think that that nothing in itself is the true beauty to really make you understand just how great it is to see an endless space of midwest land to roam on.
