>>561284You have three main options. I use all of them depending on the sitch.
1. Hang your pack on the tree - if buggywugs or water dripping down the trunk (or just rain) is a concern you trashbag it and cinch the bottom of the trashbag shut.
2. Hang the pack off the carabiner and/or sling/strap. You can still bag it for rain, but it keeps it pretty safe, as even ants don't tend to find their way down the line.
3. Use a smaller light-duty mesh or nylon hammock that you hang under or next-to your main hammock. I love doing this, because it gives me a bench to sit on while at camp, it also gives me a place to put my shit (pack, boots, food, etc) while enjoying camp, and it puts everything at easy acess when you're actually in your hammock (water bottle, etc). I use my old rothco hammock for this (ripped the tattered old bugnet off it so it's just the narrow canvas base... perfect cambin chair and gear holder!
