If you need bursts of really high current, the lower capacity cells are actually better. The large capacity cells would probably be ok with a flashlight but if you look at power tool battery packs, all the smaller ones with only 5x18650 cells use 2000mAh or smaller cells. They only use the 2500-3000mAh 18650s in larger packs with 10+ cells because the current being pulled is divided between more cells.
Walmart has these cheap power banks with 3350mAh 20650 cells, that’s where the middle one here
>>1547552 came from. It’s $5 for one of those cells plus the attached protection and USB board and those make for some quite fun projects. You can get cheap little 3xAAA work lights or lanterns and strap in the board and 20650 and turn it into a long lasting rechargeable light.
