I only mentioned scratching them up because I wouldn't want to use nice new skis for crossing pavement but yeah, if OP gets some cheap used skis it's not a big deal (I do it too when I can't be bothered taking them off for a 10m portage) . Around here old 80s-ish skis with 3-pin bindings are dirt cheap to free if you can find boots.
