Fishing florida is a lot like fishing southern texas coast though. Same techniques. With a guide you're probably going to be sight fishing and he'll give you the in's and outs.
If you're fishing off the shore in the lagoon wade around. Keep your eyes out for rays and jellies. Shuffle your feet so you don't get sent to the hospital. Otherwise casting from shore into visible structure, holes and grass will produce a lot. If you're familiar with fw, pitch soft plastics and live mullet right up against structure.
I use a 7' medium rod with a penn battle 4000 spooled with 30lb powerpro.
