>>2341535I went with a friend once, from Ventura to Prisoner's Harbor on Santa Cruz Island. We went on a guided hike to Pelican Bay, got picked up by the Island Packers boat at the bay, and hiked out to the Del Norte campsite when we got back to the harbor. The campground is on
Reservation.gov but there's a lot of land to camp on out there... The temps were over 90 most of the day and over 105 in the mainland but it was still a great time. The guided hike is through Nature Conservancy land is really nice and the trail out to the campground is very scenic if steep in places. I don't remember the cost of the boat ticket but it was well worth whatever it was.
