>>1973871The HMG Porter (or any dyneema pack from HMG or any other company) is nice because it’s 100% waterproof, essentially one giant dry sack. I can’t speak for other packs, but I have the Porter 4400 (70L), and was carrying roughly 40-45lbs or so at full food/water. It carried it great - no complaints - HMG claims a 60lb load capacity. Pic related is my pack, and I also sewed some nylon webbing and buckles to strap snowshoes to the outside when not being worn.
As a comparison, I also own an Osprey Atmos 65. The HMG carries a load as well if not better than the Osprey. It also seemingly carries much more since it’s just one big bag, instead of the Osprey which is a 45L main compartment, a 10L top lid, and 10L of miscellaneous pockets.
Those snowshoes are ridiculous.
