The federal government doesn't "squat" on that land. They fucking PROTECT it and hold in in trust for EVERYBODY.
The US is the envy of the entire fucking world for its outdoor opportunities, and retards who bitch about "Muh feds" want to turn it all into another playground for the rich because it's harder to buy an acre of land in Nevada and you MIGHT get to do that if the feds sold it all off?
The only thing even close to a conflict in my mind is that, because federal land management agencies are overly beholden to public whim and severely underfunded, they're hamstrung on their ability to actually properly manage the lands they're entrusted with.
