>>1835983>be about 19>get invited to go on a hike/camping trip by some ROTC friends>decide to invite my gf, thought it would be fun>she's never done any real hiking before>friends convince her to go>"it's just walking">ended up being a hike up a +5000 ft peak>we summit the mountain and start descending, looking for a camp site>gf is absolutely exhausted>lagging behind>my ROTC friends decide that they'll hike at their own pace and will wait for us to catch up farther up the trail>i'm staying back with my gf>starts getting dark>friends farther up ahead>not sure if still on trail>slipped and fell into river, got pack wet>no sign of camp site>sun has set>gf and i are cold and wet>decide to set up tent in middle of what we think is a hiking trail, who knows>sleep stuff is wet>no food>gf is crying, can't sleep because she can't lay on any part of her body because it's all sore>also find out that she's hypoglycemic so if her blood sugar gets low enough she'll slip into a coma>fall asleep thinking about the missing hiker sign at the trailhead from the morning>wake up next morning>decide to see if there is anything edible just outside of the tent that gf can eat so that she doesn't pass out>see friends>find out we're on the trail>they found a camp site like .5 km up ahead>insanely pissed at them for ditching but just happy to have found themgf and i broke up a little bit after that but i don't think she's gone on another hiking trip since that one
