Obviously, "bushcrafters" and "survivalists" at least need better knives, but this is hardly a general need for anyone going /out/ either, and even for them it's not exactly required. Anyone putting more than $50 in a knife is wasting his money.
I bought two meme "survival" knives myself, I'll surely never use them again because they're so heavy and useless. Shit, guess what, I'm taking the next 15 minutes to put them on sale on ebay.
