You can get a really shit reel and it wont change anything but I like having something a bit nicer to look at. If you want to spend more on a rod and get a cheaper reel get a Sage Foundation and Piscifun Sword 5/6 reel. I have both rods and prefer the Sage for both looks, performance and build quality. But both rods are excellent for their price.
