>>2042220Just got back from a trip in Louisiana. The forest was littered with massive blowdowns from two (2) hurricanes last year. Pic related was the root ball of a 4’ wide white oak, I think. The roots were about 15’ tall (my camera is legitimately broken but you get the idea).
The trail has been cleared of most blowdowns or short alternate paths were created to bypass them, but there are window makers all over the place being held up by living trees. A section on the drive there is nothing but dead blowdowns in a swampy wasteland.
