Spent a few weeks boondocking on public land in the desert. Can't remember without looking it up if it was Arizona or California. Would spend most days poking around and looking for things. Found a couple different spots like this on the North side of a ridge. I would assume illegal immigrants on their way North from Mexico. I found a backpack in one, empty except for a prescription and a Mexican bus ticket. Also various Mexican snack food wrappers and drink bottles.
Shit picture, but basically stones were carefully stacked to create a small wall in front of a natural overhang. There were at least 3 similar shelters in close proximity.
