I'm about to buy some palladiums. Had a pair long ago, loved them, went through all the memes - barefoot, waterproof, specialty hiking boots, trail runners, milsurp combats etc - now coming back to these glorified Chuck Taylors as they seem to be the only boot that is basically a rugged, simple trainer made with canvas and rubber with full flexibility in the ankle and no heel counter, and the tread in the arch acts as a shank.
Any anons use these?
Has the quality declined in the last decade?
Should I wax them for UK weather (lots of rain and mud)? Don't want full waterproofing in boots, just quick drying and decent draining.
Can I add rivets for drainage, like jungle boots? Does anyone make simple mesh covered drainage rivets?
What laces would work well with these? I've heard the stock ones suck
Any insole recommendations? Are gel insoles any good? Was going to go with cork to prevent smell as these would be my only boots for long expeditions and daily wear when travelling.
Is the baggy a tough model?
Does Nubuck breathe and dry comparably to the canvas or should I stick with the cotton?
Thanks pallabros
