>>2543342Exercise is done. I lasted 62 of 72 planned hours. At the end my stomach just became so upset I would rather skip meals than eat any more of it. And I'm not a picky eater. I never ate just one thing for days, especially freeze dried rice glue (both in taste and how it sticks to pots). First day was house chores, normal headache from sudden calorie intake drop. Second day was 21km hike, I chewed the bars without stoping as it takes about 10 minutes to eat one. I had good pace but just this activity burned 3452kcal left me exhausted afterwardS. Third day was workday. Can I surive on it? Yes. Comfortably? No. If I had any food in between, even what I could gather from the fields I've passed by it would be way better. I did experimented with the stuff a bit. To cut meals time at home I crushed it to powder then boiled a bit with water, it tasted even more foul but I imagine adding anything like berries or raisins would greatly improve the taste. Once I've added chilli powder and some kurkuma to turn it into spicy soup and managed to fool my stomach this way. That's the reason people are carrying Tabasco Sauce in their EDC right?
I was surprised thoughtful the packaging is. It's vacuum sealed mylar bag. The cardboard box not only protects the bars from being turned into dust but also has locking back feature. So I just carried it in orginal packaging, very convenient. The transparent foil that bars are packed in has opening in the middle which I found out helps crushing them into powder and pour into pot through that hole. Also I was not expecting to poop but apparently it has enough fiber content. Sound silly but I prefer to do my business before leaving for work or hike in below freezing conditions.
Conclusion is: it's great caloric suplement but not main food, but I will still rather have it in my bug out bag for 15 years than cycling chocolate every 2 years
Prepper bonus: the hike was first leg of our on-foot bug out route
