the reason we admire beautiful landscapes is we have an evolutionary incentive to seek out fertile yet safe-to-habit land. often we're not aware of this, it's just built into us through natural selection.
we've been farming for at least 7000 years, probably a lot longer. it wouldn't surprise me in if we had unconscious tendencies to seek out underground water sources. there might lots of indicators we pick up on. a smell we can't smell but our brains register it, the density of the soil we're walking on, the quality of the plants in a certain area, I don't fucking know.
