sorry for the late update, my grandfather has been sick so it's been hectic trying to get my aunt over there to help out. i spent a few hours today grinding out the final rivets, and now the aluminum is in manageable pieces. i found a second chair on a bike ride, it's currently sitting out in the rain to rinse off a little. i'm pretty sure it's steel though, since it's quite heavy.
I've done some research on bending aluminum pipe, and it seems like a major pain in the ass, so i'll probably put that off another few days.
