>>1086262Just get away from downtown and you'll be set. If it's a large city, take the bus as far out as you can and find a spot there. If you're really worried about it, check the neighborhood crime on that website that shows recent crime on a heatmap, or search for the 'shady' neighborhoods in the city and then locate yourself away from them. I've slept in plenty of cities and there's tons of good spots, away from downtown a few miles is usually fine. Just try not to be anywhere someone could walk by and also try to get up and leave early. Sleep in a place that nobody will be walking through or to, for example if you must sleep in a park sleep in a corner. Be aware of sprinklers.
Tell me what city you're in and I could probably find a few spots just using maps. Finding a good spot is best done by noticing it during the day. In places where homeless are common, the bit of forest behind a Walmart on the edge of town that you saw from Google maps might already have a camp in it and you won't really know until you go there.
