sleeping in the hammock was fucking terrible the first night. my legs went to sleep so I face-planted the floor when I rushed to turn off my alarm the next morning. If you set the hammock up with the proper amount of dip and lay diagonally slightly (pic related), you avoid the problem of having your feet elevated and going numb. Laying on your back is pretty natural this way and you feel cradled completely if set up well.
wearing socks, using a blanket, or controlling the heat/ac (something I can't do in a dorm) is essential.
