>>1835178I don't quite understand what you're trying to say, but historic camping is, and has been a popular hobby for a long while, and has a huge spectrum of people who do various degrees of fidelity for different reasons. Obviously, this thread mostly caters to people on the more historically accurate/progressive interpretation end of the scale.
Personally, when I do historic events or historic campouts, I do so to the best of my ability and supplies. If I'm doing 18thC, I'm gonna be in my good wool repro blanket on the ground, eating salt pork, local forage etc, because it's part of the experience. I personally try to make very few concessions, like the above mentioned use of stainless rather than tinware. If I'm at a LARP, I use my 15th/16thC camping kit because it's thematic and immersive.
Some people camp at LARPs in nylon, because they don't have the kit yet. Some people eat canned food at a buckskinning rendezvous because they don't have the skills yet. Some people want more. Some people are happy with less.
