>>2842480I'm not an expert on this but this is my understanding: the fall number is specific to dynamic rope and is a heuristic for the loss of elasticity. That is, after a certain number of falls the rope will become elongated and will no longer stretch as much during impact and thus will not distribute the force as well. Obviously this doesn't apply to static material like slings.
