The rest of the industry isn’t nearly as autistic
Offshore OSV’s and other oilfield related boats are usually 12 hour watch with 12 hours off watch
Tugs are usually 6 on 6 off
Ships generally are 4 on 8 off with overtime as an option during your off watch time
Keep in mind none of that is set in stone and can change for any reason, I once had to work 21 hours straight on the tug during a hurricane but stuff like that happening is rare
