You might note that I have a new tent. My old one was a hand-me-down from my dad. Since the early 80's when it was new, its ability to keep water out decreased notably. The zipper had issues on a trip I took last summer, and once a tear formed in the seam at the top of the tent, it was time for a replacement.
I was very grateful to have the new tent in eastern Kansas, where I camped in a couple of very heavy rainstorms.
