I have always loved the outdoors, from when I was really little it was my favourite place to be.
However, The last time I was /out/ was when I was a teenager. I'd really love to get back into it but I lack equipment and knowledge.
There is so much to get your head around, so much to know when but I know nothing apart from some common sense.
I'll admit that I'm the useless guy you guys hate, and I'd love to change that.
I have no one and no friends that know anything about being innawoods and I'm a little bit skeptical about meeting people online and going bush with them - so I'd prefer not to go down that path.
I'd happily go alone, but I'm scared of doing something incredibly stupid and/or hurting myself, or getting lost. Which would be a very possible situation.
I know how to do simple things like build a fire, cook, set up shelter etc.
but I'm not so sure about hunting my food (fishing, since I'm not allowed to own a gun, bow, or slingshot), and navigating really worries me.
Equipment wouldn't be that much of an issue. I find out what I need and I buy it. Though I'm not sure how you guys fit 4 days worth of gear/supplies in one or two bags, but I guess that will get better with experience.
What would be the best way for me to get into this given the fact that I have no one to teach me and I'm pretty useless?
Also, any general tips/advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks guys :)
